Located facing the Mercado de Campo de Ourique in Lisbon, the project for this new eyewear shop is defined by a generous exhibition area, a workshop and a consulting room. The whole is organised within a continuous space that ensures the functional articulation of the programme and its direct relationship with the urban context, marked by a large shopfront open to the calm life of the neighbourhood.
The exhibition area is arranged into four distinct zones: the service counter, the sunglasses display area, the prescription glasses display area and the fitting table. This division became the starting point for the project’s concept, in which geometry, colour and the absence of colour structure and define the reading of the different spaces.
The asymmetrical organisation of the exhibition area develops from two chromatic nuclei that guide the visitor’s path. The white display units establish a neutral base against which two colour‑defined areas stand out: light blue, marking the service counter beneath a higher ceiling, and orange, identifying the fitting table area. From this point, access is provided to the shop’s technical areas, where the consulting room, workshop and storage are located.
The theme of asymmetry is reinforced by the introduction of two circular openings: one integrated into the pivoting door leading to the consulting room and another, larger one, in the workshop. These elements introduce unexpected variations in the wall planes, intensifying an asymmetrical reading that adds movement and depth to the exhibition space.
Between the precise geometry, the guiding use of colour and the asymmetry that animates the path, the space asserts itself as a continuous and functional body, open to the rhythm of the neighbourhood and its everyday dynamics.
